WEATHER UNTIL MAY 30, 2023, ANALYSIS AND FORECAST
A zone of high pressure extends over central-western Europe, but without appreciably influencing the climate of Italy. The novelty is represented by the descent, along the eastern edge of the anticyclone, of a new cold air core of Scandinavia near the Alps and that later it will parade with retrograde movement between France and Spain.
Significantly, we observe a resurgence of atmospheric instability in the north, with electrical storms which extended from the Alps to the plains, especially in the northwest. The stormy activity will also continue to be the protagonist in the rest of Italy, along the Apennine mountain range, with showers especially in the afternoon attenuating at night.
The precipitation will be irregular, since it will not be linked to disturbances but simply to local development with diurnal evolution. By Friday the weather will improve and the instability will decrease with the removal of the vortex towards Spain, which will leave room for a partial thrust of the anticyclone.
Not much news is expected over the weekend, with the anticyclone unable to guarantee total protection. Storms will always be lurking at least in the mountains. Temperatures will rise a few degrees again. The heat will not reach excessive levels for the moment. The scenario does not seem to change even for the last days of May, with still daytime storms.
IN DETAIL
Thursday May 25: Locally strong thunderstorm rains in the northwest and in the west of Emilia, but decreasing. Greater free spaces in the Northeast. Scattered electrical storms also in the Apennine mountain range and in Sardinia during the hottest hours.
Friday May 26: more sun in the North, while instability will persist in the Center-South and the Islands. Thunderstorms from the mountains can be pushed onto the plains and, locally, onto the shores of the Lower Tyrrhenian Sea.
Weekend: On Saturday and Sunday we will have daytime storms over the interior and mountainous areas, especially in the South.
More weather trends: the climate will continue to fight with the anticyclone it will continue to be too weak to favor indisputable stability. The baric breach in the Mediterranean will continue to fuel the development of electrical storms and the heat will remain contained.
