In Italy, 40% of sexual assaults it is made by foreign men. A percentage that should provoke some reflection on the drift that this country assumes due to the reigning benefactors, which, however, for now only leads to filling the newspaper columns with news such as that of Anzio. Here, a very young girl was raped on May 12 by an irregular man of Nigerian nationality, already known to the police for similar crimes.
The person responsible for this crime is omwanta valentine, 32, in Italy since 2015 when he landed in Lampedusa. During the usual recognition operations, the man’s fingerprints were taken, he was photoreported and, as always happens, he was released to move around the territory awaiting a response after submitting the asylum application. After less than a year in Italy, Omwanta was arrested because, during his stay in Trapani, he robbed, beat and attempted to rape a woman. The wine condemned to 7 years in prison and the payment of a fine of 1800 euros but, obviously, he spent a much shorter period in prison before being released to re-offend and in 2022 he was out of jail.
Simultaneously with his release, again as is practice, he was notified by the Syracuse police headquarters of the obligation to be expelled from the national territory. It goes without saying that this provision was ignored by the man, who continued on Italian soil as an irregular, homeless and without a future. A few months later he was crossed in Rome by a police patrol which, after a control, began the procedures for the transfer to CPR where, however, he never entered. In fact, according to the ASL, Omwanta is not suitable for a correctional facility. New expulsion order ignored for those who, probably on the advice of an NGO or local association, turn to the justice of the peace because they want to obtain international protection.
It is unlikely that he will be granted, given the precedents, but it will never be known because a judgment has not yet been handed down on his application. Now the man is in prison in Latina for the rape of Anzio, after being arrested in Aprilia thanks to DNA traces. Impossible to say how long he will be confined in the correctional facility, but if the mechanisms do not change, when he is released, he will be able to commit crimes again in any Italian city, with a new release form in your pocket that will not bring any results. If not, the umpteenth illegal immigrant free to circulate and commit crimes over and over again, without the possibility of being able to stop him effectively. Two violations in less than eight years and who knows how many chances to continue committing crimes in front of him if the system is not changed.
