The well-known Italian consumer magazine examined up to 28 brands among tomato puree and pulp which are for sale in supermarkets throughout Italy. And after various types of anonymous laboratory and quality analysis, he has compiled a list of the best, consecrating only one as the best value for money.
There were several parameters on which the test was based. For example, the presence of salt or water in addition to the tomato pulp, the pH and lactic acid, the sugars, the general hygiene of the product. The Altroconsumo investigation carried out analyzes on different types of tomato-based preserves that are sold in all Italian stores. The choice was made in order to cover the market as much as possible. “All samples are purchased at normal outlets, sent to laboratories and analyzed anonymously,” reads a magazine note accompanying the test.
The results are very interesting. Well, according to Altroconsumo, the best tomato pulp with the best value for money is Esselunga tomato pulp. It is sold in multipacks of three pieces, with a total weight of 1200 gr (3x400g ℮). He got 74 points.
