CAMPOLONGO (VENICE) – Increase in robberies on the Riviera, the Campolongo administration decides to increase the Private security against the phenomenon that affects, above all, homes in the late afternoon and early hours of the night. Starting this weekend and for the next three months, an additional territorial surveillance service will be launched through the private company SicurItalia. The measure, which will cost about two thousand euros this quarter, is intended to be a first response to the phenomenon of robberies that have occurred in recent days in some homes. campolongo, but that involves the entire Riviera.
The raids are concentrated mainly at dusk and during the absence of the home owners, who in Campolongo, in most cases, have recorded modest thefts but causing significant damage to windows, fences and alarm systems. Material damage which however increase the fear of citizens. «Additional patrols will continue until spring – explains the Councilor for Security, Luca Callegaro -, in addition to those already carried out at night, throughout the municipal territory. A car with flashing lights will travel through neighborhoods and streets from late afternoon until night. In addition, specific surveillance is planned, carried out by trained personnel, in public places, neighborhoods, squares and reported sensitive places. I also remind all citizens – adds Callegaro – to never leave doors and windows open or with the keys in the keys, to turn on the exterior lights of their homes, to install anti-theft systems even if they are at home, to join neighborhood watch groups. which in these years have proven to be very useful”.
THE MAYOR: “WINNING ELECTION”
The mayor also intervenes on the issue Mattia Gastaldi: «Unfortunately, the winter and pre-Christmas period is historically marked by these incidents of small crimes that awaken anxiety and a feeling of insecurity in citizens. The choice to monitor the territory through private surveillance has proven to be a success over the years. In addition to this surveillance in the afternoon and at night, we are intensifying the control of our municipal police and I thank the carabinieri for their particular attention. An important work of synergy that I hope can act as a deterrent.”
A phenomenon that has also raised concern in the minority group “Campolongo Migliore”: «In these days and nights the citizens of Campolongo are alarmed by the numerous raids carried out in homes – declare councilors Elena Casalicchio, Marika Donola and Stefano Molena -. “We are convinced that the police presence is the greatest deterrent, but we wonder what happened to the Carabinieri barracks project in the former Villa Maniero.”
