It is a life-size work sculpted in Carrara marble. signed on the base by the artist which was presented to the public for the first time inRome Exposition of 1879. and was auctioned by Christie’s in December 2018.
Rossetti sculpted a young vestal virgin dressed in a modest dress but made with expert craftsmanship. As he looks down shyly, Insolent Cupid approaches her face trying to tempt her.
The god of love tries to make her give in while she, being vestal, cannot hear him.

The sculptor Antonio Rossetti was born in Milan on October 31, 1819. and began to learn the art of sculpture under the careful guidance of Somaini.
