TO child resident for six years trinitapoli (Barletta-Andria-Trani) is drowned this morning in the waters in front of the lido “Paradise of the young” a Savoy Daisyin the north of Bari.
The little boy, of Romanian origin, according to what has been learned from lifeguard sources, was doing a summer camp and was playing in the sea when he drowned. The assistance provided by the 118 personnel who only confirmed his death was of no use to him.
the little victim
The boy who drowned in the waters off the Paradiso dei Giovani beach in Margherita di Savoia, in the north of Bari, would have turned 7 on July 21, he was born in Cerignola (Foggia) but resided in Canosa di Puglia and not in Trinitapoli as previously reported.
The director of 118
“The child was lying face down in the water, a sea mirror of 15-20 cm. They took him to shore and performed CPR and heart massage. He was also intubated. Although we exceeded even the canonical times for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, they did not help the child’s recovery,” said Donatello Iacobone, director of ASL Bat 118, recounting the dramatic moments in which an attempt was made to save the child. “It is premature to say what the causes of death were. To be fair, let’s wait for the technical times of the judge and the coroner -added Iacobone- unfortunately the six-year-old boy was found in cardiac arrest. The rescue arrived on time and implemented all the planned cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures in synergy with the Foggia helicopter rescue service but there was nothing to do.”
The owner of the beach
“We are speechless. The rescue was there, the team was there. The help system worked. And our lifeguard, Salvatore, was one of the first to intervene and now he is in shock.” This was stated by Ansa Andrea Cristiano, owner of the “Paradise for young people” beach in Margherita di Savoia, in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, where a six-year-old boy residing in Canosa di Puglia, in the north of Bari, died this morning. The causes of death of the boy who was participating in a summer camp have yet to be clarified. “The children were all together on the shore, we don’t know what happened,” he adds. “We feel sorry for the colony organizers who have been coming for years and are very good people”, he concludes.
lifeguard story
“I heard a man yell and say ‘the baby is sick.’ Intervene immediately», is the story of Salvatore Damato, the 26-year-old lifeguard of the “Paradiso dei Giovani” lido. “I got into the water and saw that the child was sick,” continues Salvatore, who has been a lifeguard for two years, “we placed him on the shore, I used the whistle to ask them to call 118 and meanwhile we began to do the first maneuvers of first aid. Then we put him on his side and they brought us the defibrillator but the boy gave no signs of life”, concludes the 26-year-old.
