It was their father who found them shot dead when he was coming home around 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the family apartment on the first floor of a building in via Brigata Piemonte, a quiet residential neighborhood in the western suburbs of Verona: the body of the youngest, Edoardo, was found in the entrance, that of Patrizio lying in the bedroom.

The reason for the gesture is inexplicable
What remains unexplained for the moment is what he triggered in Patrizio’s mind to push him to kill his brother: a fight? One word too many? The Baltieris are what one would call a normal family. but which, already before Saturday, had been marked by an enormous drama: eldest son Leo died of leukemia about five years ago. It was he – say those who knew him – who acted as the glue with the other two brothers, who did not have a great relationship and tended to ignore each other. But there had been no alarm bells.
A life locked up at home
