A post dedicated to the Primavalle tragedy by Laura Boldrini seems to launch a new phenomenon in the left-wing political debate: preventive criticism of the pro-government majority. Let’s talk about the brutal crime of Michelle Causa, the 17-year-old girl found dead in a shopping cart left near the garbage cans. The representative of the Democratic Party commented on the umpteenth tragedy on Facebook: “Today we are counting the 55th victim of femicide in the first six months of 2023. A young woman of only 17 years old, stabbed to death by a partner and then abandoned in a bag in a shopping cart, next to the garbage cans. Like a waste, a rejection. Faced with this immense tragedy, it is only possible to reiterate what we have always been shouting to be repeated: the best laws in the world can be made, penal measures can be toughened, but this is not enough and it will never be enough”.

After the analysis of the facts, we move on to the proposals to try to reverse the course of an alarming phenomenon: “What is still missing -adds Boldrini- is a serious and widespread cultural work, starting from the school, where a new discipline must be introduced of studies: sentimental education”. In short, starting over from education and values. All shareable. Then the thrust that has something surreal: “Without this path”, that is, sentimental education at school, ” being hindered by the right, which continues to appeal to a phantom and unidentified ‘gender theory’ – that no one, not even on the right, has fully understood what it is about, which makes it difficult even for those who teach to deal with an issue that they already know. We can’t escape.”

In short, Boldrini believes that children and young people should be educated to respect others in relationships that have nothing to do with violence and oppression, but he fears that this does not suit the center-right forces. He bringing up, among other things, the legitimate criticisms of gender theory in a parallelism that is less daring. “We must teach respect for women in schools, the sharing of burdens between men and women. And above all, what is love, that it is never oppression or violence. If we do not act on the cause of these incessant femicides, we will continue to remain at the window waiting to see the umpteenth victim pass by and count them. A count that we would like to never have to do again ”, concludes the dem.
