PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – In Palermo, in the Martorana Room of the Comitini Palace, the 2023-2025 budget was approved by the Metropolitan Conference of Mayors gathered there.
“An approval achieved well in advance of the deadline set on May 31, thanks to the active collaboration of the mayors of the provincial territory who did not miss their presence today and their favorable opinion. An important result achieved despite the difficult historical period that has inevitably made it difficult to maintain all economic and financial balances. However, we managed to meet the priorities of this metropolitan administration, increasing the resources allocated to improving the infrastructure to improve traffic conditions and to schools to guarantee the safety and functionality of the buildings. We have a lot of work ahead of us and thanks also to the opportunities offered by the Pnrr, I am sure that we will be able to move in the right direction, that of guaranteeing the habitability and well-being of the citizens of the metropolitan municipalities. ”, declared the metropolitan mayor, Roberto Lagalla, regardless of the approval of the budget.
The amount of expenditure foreseen in the budget is a total of 467 million in 2023, 344 million in 2024 and 411 million euros in 2025. The most important part of the budget is represented by public investments that reach the figure of 613 million euros ; Of these, 262 million will go to schools and school buildings, 315 million to roads and land use planning, 24 million euros will go to the management of movable property and security.
Special attention is paid then to the planning of the funds foreseen by the PNRR: for the Integrated Urban Plans 198 million euros; for the improvement of the offer of educational services, 40.5 million euros; €6.2 M for urban, peri-urban and extra-urban forestation works and €11.2 M for the National Strategy for Interior Spaces.
Next, a restricted surplus of 49.5 million euros was applied to the budget planned for 2023, allocated as follows: 979,851.03 euros to finance restricted current expenses; 4,206,774.94 euros to finance works belonging to the Pnrr – Integrated Urban Plans; 25,937,196.56 euros for investment expenses in the road network and building sector; 1,330,000 euros for the execution of interventions financed with mortgages.
