From May 26, 2023 Bonaparte Palace in Rome will propose for the first time in Italy an exhibition dedicated to hyperrealist sculpture entitled “It seems alive! Hyperrealistic sculptures of the greatest contemporary artists”.
Personally I don’t like this type of sculpture. I understand the great work behind it, the mastery and everything else, but I don’t like it, it doesn’t excite me or get me involved in its story. However, I’ll tell you anyway: I’m sure there will be many readers who don’t think like me and will have the pleasure of visiting it.
The proposed works are all by contemporary artists such as Maurizio Cattelan, Ron Mueck, George Segal, Carole Feuerman and many more.
The exhibition itinerary “It seems alive!” will roll up between 43 mega-installations by some of the most famous contemporary hyperrealist artists.
Some of the proposed sculptures look real and are expected to start breathing and moving in space at any moment. Down to the smallest detail, the bodies are faithfully reproduced and think about it, even the pores of the skin and hair are created one by one.
Similar to three-dimensional photos, these works confuse ideas.

He exhibited artists, 29 in totalare the international players best known as Maurizio Cattelan with the installation Ghosts and Comedian until ron mueck which also exhibits a giant man’s head from the Dark Place, until Jorge Segal, Carol Feuermann, duane hanson and many more.
The exhibited works, which come from private and public collections around the world, reveal the hyper-realistic style that began to spread from the seventies. A constantly evolving style that is always looking for new materials to reach ever higher levels of realistic representation of the human figure.

As stated in the press release, It seems alive! is an exhibition that, between art and philosophy, leads to a reflection on the meaning of the essence of the visible through works and anonymous life-size figures that reproduce reality in an almost maniacal way, with great attention to the smallest details that create an almost surreal impact, in which the observer automatically wonders about the effectiveness of mimicry and about the veracity of the illusion.
The exhibition is a project proposed by Arthemisia.

The exhibition, conceived byInstitute for Kulturaustausch, Germanyis edited by Maximilian Letze In collaboration with Nicholas Ballario and is produced and organized by arthemisiawhich once again, after the great success of the exhibitions dedicated to Jago and Leandro Erlich, proposes new and visionary projects on the science of contemporary art in Italy.
The catalog is published by Skira.
