A dangerous storm is imminent over Italy. In addition to locally intense rains, there is also the risk of hail, even of large dimensions, due to the great potential energy involved, caused precisely by the first heat that generates marked contrasts.

Confirmation came with the latest update: the impetuous and sudden entrance of a girl cold drop (high altitude cold unstable air core), descending from northern Europe, will greatly destabilize the atmosphere, causing electrical storms even of strong intensity up to the plains.
We can imagine this drop as a zone of the atmosphere where it is much colder than all the surrounding zones: in the lower map you can clearly see the difference in colors with the green of the drop to indicate a cold area surrounded by warmer air (yellow color); the speed of this phenomenon will be the basis of the violent contrasts between different air masses that are expected in our country.

Focused eyes, in particular, between the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, May 24 specially in Northwest, western Veneto and Friuli where the most insidious phenomena are expected.

What’s going on? Simply, the heat of the last few days has increased thepotential energy at stake in the lower layers of the atmosphere (humidity and heat) effectively preparing the ground for the development of impressive supercellsor particularly violent storm systems, up to 8-10 km high and capable of causing large hail (up to 3-4 cm in diameter)gusts of more than 60 km/h (downburst) and, in the most extreme cases, even twister. The following map clearly highlights the areas of greatest risk.

According to the latest updates, we expect temporary intense in Piedmont and Lombardy (especially the provinces of Varese, Como, Milan, Monza, Brianza, Bergamo and Brescia) in extension and then also to veneto (mainly from Verona, then also from Vicenza and locally from Padua).
