(Sesto Potere) – Bologna – May 22, 2023 – A team of 123 psychologists ready to provide assistance and support to people affected by the floods. Professionals from all over Emilia-Romagna, with specific skills and training in emergency management, present in all the reception centers installed in the area, but who are naturally available not only to those who have had to leave their homes finding hospitality in schools, arenas and gyms, but for all those who need it. Starting with the most fragile: the elderly, children, the disabled and people with previous mental suffering.
Since the first days of the emergency, the Regional Health Service has made a team of professionals available, especially for the management of the most critical cases, such as traumas associated with the loss of a loved one or abandonment of home, but now you are ready to generalize and structure the service. The psychologist stays as long as necessary, even days, and sleeps in the reception centers.
Today, in fact, the 123 psychologists are available in all the areas of Romagna, the Imola area, the Bologna area and the Ferrara area affected by the floods.
On the spot, in the reception centers to provide assistance to displaced people, but also to support those who, although they are not forced to leave their homes, need help: in this case, citizens can call toll free number 800024662 activated by the Region to respond 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., to queries and needs related to the emergency.
Operators, duly trained to deal with all requests, will put citizens in contact with psychologists.
The service, coordinated by the Regional Department of Health Policies, is also possible thanks to the psychologists of the Health Boards and Associations, in particular SIPEM SoS ER, the Emergency Group of the Order of Psychologists, the Italian Red Cross, EMDR Italy, Psychologists for the peoples.
A specific area dedicated to hospitality, information and support is set up in the hospitality centers (according to the RISC model – Reception Information And Support Attention), for the work of psychologists with the affected population, who can contact the center independently, or sent by the treating physicians or prior communication to the regional toll-free number.
