A young man of Sinti origin and his sister-in-law. Two of them had set up a drug trafficking operation almost 24 hours a day, from late in the morning until late at night. Cocaine, to be sold in the squares of Zagarolo, Valle Martella and Montecompatri, southeast province of the capital. A real gang, made up of thirteen people, arrested in a dawn raid. The dirty money was then invested in a commercial business, a pizzeria.
The investigations carried out from September to December 2021 by the Carabinieri of the Frascati operational unit and directed by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate of Rome, have their origin in a series of individual arrests, carried out in Valle Martella, for trafficking and possession of substances narcotics that prompted researchers to delve deeper into the origin and handling of narcotics in the area.

Subsequent investigations, carried out through monitoring, observation services and technical activities, made it possible to gather circumstantial elements regarding the existence of an association directed and managed, as the main promoter, by a 21-year-old young man of Sinti origin, dedicated to the trafficking of narcotic substances such as cocaine. The boy used the close collaboration of his sister-in-law, also of Sinti origin and aged 33, as well as other subjects for sale to third parties. Drug trafficking activity took place from early in the morning until late at night.
The Valle Martella system
The investigations, made difficult by the territorial context and by the use of “lookouts” who reported “by word of mouth” of the presence of law enforcement in the area, made it possible to document the organization of drug trafficking in shifts by the associates, who, in addition to the “salary”, were guaranteed payment of legal costs in the event of arrest.
The pizzeria seized
Drug trafficking activity, although it developed in different areas, was concentrated above all in two drug trafficking plazas in Valle Martella and Zagarolo. In addition, the two leaders of the association had reinvested part of the proceeds of the illicit activity in a pizzeria, which was also previously seized by the police.
With the first light of dawn, the Carabinieri of the Frascati group executed the preventive detention order, issued by the investigating judge of the Rome court, at the request of the Rome Prosecutor’s Office, Anti-Mafia District Directorate, against 13 people (of (9 detainees and 4 under house arrest), seriously suspected of crimes of association for the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances such as cocaine, drug trafficking and self-laundering, in the territory of Zagarolo, in the area of Valle Martella and Montecompatri, southeast of the capital .
