A disturbed pulse reaches Italy and will cause a worsening of meteorological conditions, although it will have very limited effects in terms of precipitation. The highlight will be the entry of colder air masses that will displace the pre-existing much warmer air.
The mercury will drop sharply after the front passes. A brief immersion in winter weather awaits usbut then the anticyclone will immediately take center stage again and repair the crack during the weekend, when the weather will begin to soften again thanks to widespread sunshine.
The anomalous heat of recent days has once again come to the fore and is certainly nothing new. For months now we have been successively witnessing a series of extreme heat waves, in relation to the period. After September and October, November also brought record temperature spikes.
On the two main islands, peaks of 30 degrees were even reached as if it were summer, but Even in some cities in northern Italy, record values were measured for November. In Genoa, the thermometer stopped on Wednesday at 24 degrees, exceeding the previous historical record by one degree.
In this context, winter would seem far away, although in exactly two weeks we will officially enter the new season according to the meteorological calendar. However, a clear change is coming with the announced drop in temperatures.
Temporary cooling and first frosts.
After the frontal passage on Friday, colder air masses of Arctic origin will enter, destined to cause a sharp drop in temperatures to more normal values for the period. The drop in temperatures will be felt more on the Adriatic coasts.
The winds will move from the northern quadrants and will enhance the sensation of cold, the so-called thermal sensation. The thermal drop will peak at the beginning of the weekend, when clear skies will favor the strong dispersion of nocturnal heat.
The northern regions and the internal valleys of central Italy will be the most affected, with even some frost at low altitude, if not on the plains. Basically, it means that the temperature will drop to values close to zero in the early morning hours, around dawn on Saturday the 18th.
Between Saturday and Sunday the anticyclone will bring stable weather and a gradual increase in temperature, but the weather will change again from the beginning of the week due to the arrival of a large cold depression circulation from northern Europe. Rains and initially mild weather will return to Italy, but winter is approaching.
