EXTRAVILLÆ Metamorphosis into beauty is born, a new cinematographic event that traces a suggestive and transversal path on the great and colorful theme of beauty, through projections, meetings, performances and special events, from July 16 to 29, 2023 in Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este in Tivoli.
The artistic director Andrea BRUCIATI, art historian and director of VILLÆ, the president of ANICA Francesco RUTELLI, creator of the Videocittà festival, the director of the Rome Lazio Film Commission Cristina PRIARONE spoke today in Cannes, at the Italian Pavilion and GM Remigio TRUOCCHIO of the company Cineventi, organizer of the event.
With a rich program of national and international film screenings and restored titles, meetings with filmmakers and more, shows and events dedicated to art, EXTRAVILLÆ puts the spotlight on the great theme of metamorphosis into beauty, allowing the public unprecedented nighttime use. of a cultural and artistic heritage of immense value.
During the presentation, the director BRUCATI illustrated the contents and particularities of a unique event of its kind, which aims to enrich the summer cultural offer within the spaces of Villa Adriana, whose structures constitute one of the most important and admirable examples of Roman culture. , and Villa d’Este, one of the symbols of the Italian Renaissance, both architectural jewels and with unique surroundings in the world, declared “World Heritage” by UNESCO.
An event that goes beyond the concept of Festival, questioning the very canon of beauty, thanks to a varied program of evenings ranging from cinema, music, visual arts, unusual places and matrices of absolute aesthetic values. , now declined according to a contemporary sensibility. Next, the director of PRIARONE insisted on the importance of promoting exceptional places through extraordinary high-quality events, attracting a new public, in search of alternative spaces and content that look to the future.
In detail, the RLFC (Rome Lazio Film Commission) will organize a series of meetings during the evenings, under the name of CineCampus Off, as is the tradition at the Rome Film Festival, with authors and film actors supported by the Lazio Region. for a vision and celebration of the beauty of the places of the territory.
He also introduced one of the themes that will accompany this edition of ExtraVillae: the rediscovery of the hundred-year-old trees that enrich and enhance the Villa Adriana park and the Villa D’este gardens, introducing the intervention of Sergio GUIDI, president of the Association of Patriarchs de Natura, who described, with the help of photographic documents, the delicate work carried out for the mapping of secular trees in Lazio, including those residing in Tivoli and their rebirth through the creation of “twins”.
And it is precisely to these trees and their metamorphosis that the opening evening will be dedicated in collaboration with VIDEOCITTÀ, the festival of vision and digital culture, announced in advance today by its creator Francesco RUTELLI.
A live show between nature, water, music and images, on the theme of the contrasts of the ecosystem, against the backdrop of the hundred-year-old trees present in the Villae, created by an internationally renowned artist who will be presented during the wheel of Videocittà press, in Rome, Monday May 29.
In addition, Rutelli underlined the centrality of the Villas among the most sought-after monuments by international tourism and the need to combine increasingly cultural and highly spectacular moments in unique museum spaces, for an extraordinary nocturnal use of the sites, between cinema, art and beauty. .
