He was blocked as he was about to board a train bound for Roma Termini from the Aprilia station. Perhaps he knew that they were looking for him and that they had identified him, and that is why he thought that he could disappear in the capital. An attempt that failed at the root because the 32-year-old Nigerian, clandestine and already with a reduced sentence for sexual assault and robbery -without the expulsion and effective repatriation procedures being carried out, as provided for in these circumstances-, did not have time to take that convoy. For the agents of the Mobile Squad and the Anzio-Nettuno police station who arrested him the day before yesterday, shortly after dawn, in the small railway yard, is responsible for the rape of the 18-year-old girl attacked on the night of May 12 in the Anzio 2 neighborhood, the popular neighborhood on the outskirts of the Lazio city.
To incriminate the Nigerian, in the past already a guest at a reception center in Sicily and later found guilty of a sexual assault also in the south, there was the DNA test: the scientific police had, in fact, found biological traces of the rapist of the girl. both in the latter’s clothes and in the hut on the edge of a lane that connects the bus stop on Via Nettunense and the town. These elements were then compared to the biological profile. of the arrested and the response was positive. Already today the 32-year-old could appear before the investigating judge of the Latina court for the detention validation hearing. It is not clear if he has admitted responsibility for him. The attack, according to the investigators of Section IV of the Mobile, specialized in crimes with gender violence, would not have been planned by the Nigerian who chose his victim on the spot, among those who were on board that bus full of travelers. He had already been arrested in 2016 for a similar episode: he had raped a woman whom he had also beaten and robbed. He served a sentence for those events and was released.
From the very beginning of the investigation, her name had been included among those of some suspects, not only because she had a specific record, but also because she was a regular visitor to the hut where the young woman was later dragged by force after being blocked as soon as when she got off the bus, he took her home at 11pm, after a day in Rome. The alarm always went off late in the afternoon when the girl, who lives right in Anzio 2 with his family -then the father commented: “It is better that the police find him first”, referring to his daughter’s attacker-, had asked some motorists for help after walking back, upset, by the neptune street. .
At the hospital, where she was taken after the violence suffered, she said that she could not recognize her assailant, but in any case, she described his tattoos and also his particular gait. Her screams had put the rapist to flight that shortly before he had grabbed her from behind, taking her body to the barracks to abuse her. At that moment they were alone. Immediately afterwards the Nigerian had fled, hiding for almost two months – he did not rule himself out with the complicity of some friends – but he never left the south coast of Rome. And that’s where the agents located him.
